8-10 Granny Smith Apples peeled and cored (you can use any variety of apple)
cut into slices less than 1/4 inch thickSqueeze of lemon (to taste)
1/2 cup Sugar (try Brown Sugar for more flavor)
1/2 tsp Salt (preferably sea salt)
1/2 – 2 tsp Cinnamon (to taste)
1/4 tsp Nutmeg (preferably fresh ground)
1-2 Tbl Unsalted Butter
Heat apple mixture in pot with Butter until apples become slightly tender.
Combine the flour, salt, and sugar in food processor. Pulse till combined evenly. Cut butter into pieces and add to flour mixture. Process about 20 seconds while drizzling ice water. Use only just enough water. You don’t want it to be wet. Be careful not to over process.
